About
Schoolyear is a recognized leader in anti-cheat software for university exams in the Netherlands, serving over 150 institutions and scaling globally, with customers across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. We are a growing startup with a team of 14 people, administering millions of exams annually. Our focus is on delivering high-quality, stable software and providing exceptional support to educational institutions worldwide. As a bootstrapped company, we prioritize product quality, team cohesion, and long-term sustainability over capital-funded growth. The company continues to be led by its two original founders. Our team works in a hybrid or fully remote setup across Europe (CEST ±1h), with our headquarters in Den Bosch, Netherlands.
Role
Our software has an integration with Azure Virtual Desktop, which allows customers to use their own cloud to host remote desktops that can be used during exams. Customers need to set up and maintain this Azure deployment themselves for which we provide training and support. Some customers outsource this work to our growing global network of Schoolyear AVD implementation partners, which we then also train and support.
This role is about providing this deep, technical support and training to the IT departments of universities worldwide and to our partners that manage these deployments day-to-day. You will be THE leading expert on this product.
Your job will consist of doing support meetings, answering email tickets, improving our documentation website, managing and promoting our opensource community and giving online trainings. You will be closely connected to the product and development team to discuss feedback and brainstorm ways to improve the product. You will have commit access, and we encourage you to suggest and implement improvements to the product and support tooling.
In this role, you will also take part in an on-call schedule to provide support to customers and partners during high-priority incidents. Being on-call involves being available for an online meeting within 10 minutes. Time spent outside normal working hours is paid double, for which you can choose to have it paid out in salary or in extra time-off.
Product
We believe teachers should have the freedom to teach and organize their exams the way they see fit. However, with the growing reliance on digital tools to take exams and the introduction of fraud methods such as generative AI, teachers become more dependent on IT support to make their exams fraud-proof, limiting how they teach and conduct exams. Therefore, we build software to temporarily convert any device, personal devices or computer labs, into a highly secure examination mode without having to rely on the support of an IT department. By leveraging personal devices with institution-owned computer labs, institutions can take exams at scale while being more flexible and saving on investing in hardware.
